Funding & rebates

Medicare:

There are a range of rebates available for occupational therapy services through Medicare.

Kristy is eligible to provide services under the following plans once a written referral is supplied by your GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist.

1. Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Eligible Disability Services

This funding is available for patients that have been diagnosed with a complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder) or an eligible disability. Offspring OT is eligible to assist with providing these supports.

For a Medicare rebate to be paid, Offspring OT must be in receipt of a current referral provided by an eligible medical practitioner. For a complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder a person can be referred by a Consultant Psychiatrist or Paediatrician.  For an eligible disability a person can be referred by a specialist or a GP.

The maximum service allocation claimable across a person's lifetime is twenty (20).

2. Chronic Disease Management Plan (previously known as the Enhanced Primary Care Plan)

This funding plan allows eligible people with complex and chronic care needs to attend up to a total of five allied health sessions per calendar year.  Your Doctor or Paediatrician will determine if your child is eligible and provide a referral.

Please arrange a referral before attending the therapy sessions you wish to claim as this cannot be arranged retrospectively. To use this plan, a copy of the referral will need to be provided during the first appointment, with Offspring Occupational Therapy listed as the provider of the OT service.

To claim the Medicare rebate you must submit the receipt provided by Offspring Occupational Therapy to Medicare.

  • A GP managing the patient under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.
  • Psychiatrists and paediatricians

Under this initiative, Medicare rebates are available to patients for selected mental health services provided by general practitioners (GPs), psychiatrists, psychologists (clinical and registered) and eligible social workers and occupational therapists.
